Traceability

At Himalayan Cliff Honey, we are rooted in nature, people, and tradition. Every jar comes directly from native cliffside hives in Nepal, carefully harvested by experienced Gurung, Magar, and Chhetri honey hunters using centuries-old techniques.

Our cliff honey is collected once or twice a year, handled in small batches, and stored in certified units to preserve its natural enzymes, bioactive compounds, and delicate flavor with minimal processing.

Each jar includes a QR code that allows you to trace your honey back to its harvest region, season, and the beekeeper. The code also provides batch details and third-party quality testing information, ensuring full transparency from the cliff to your jar.

Questions Asked By You

What is Cliff Honey?

Cliff honey, also known as mad honey, is wild-harvested from cliffside hives at elevations of 3,000–4,000 meters. These giant honeybees prefer to choose sheer rocks as a site to build their hives, that too standing deep inside the forests of red rhododendrons, wildflowers, and medicinal herbs. Our Lamjung harvest comes from the peaks between Manaslu and Annapurna, collected by Gurung honey hunters using generations-old rope techniques passed down for centuries.

What does our honey taste like?

This harvest has its own signature notes: light amber color with smooth, creamy texture. The profile shows gentle floral sweetness balanced with subtle herbal undertones- reflecting the diverse high-altitude flora where bees forage. The delicate, approachable flavor makes it ideal if you are trying authentic Himalayan cliff honey for the first time.

How is mad honey different from regular honey?

Regular honey is farm-raised, pasteurized, and filtered- commercial processing removes compounds that are sensitive to heat and filtration. Cliff honey comes from wild bees foraging on high-altitude rhododendron and therapeutic flora. Its uniqueness is in being available in the market in the raw form, without any heat treatment, additives, or processing. The thick texture, complex flavor, and natural properties cannot be replicated by commercial honey production.

What is the recommended dosage?

Start with a small amount (no more than one tablespoon), preferably best taken with food. Individual tolerance varies, so moderation is essential. This honey is intended for occasional use only and should not be consumed frequently or in excess.

Who should avoid consuming cliff honey?

Himalayan Cliff Honey must be avoided by pregnant and breastfeeding women, as no safety related studies are available. This product is also not for children under 18, further, those with heart conditions, low blood pressure, or cardiac medications require physician approval. For all users, discontinue the honey before two weeks of surgery. This product is for healthy adults only.

How should I use this honey for best results?

Himalayan cliff honey can be mixed with lukewarm water below 40°C- both morning or evening consumption is permitted. Don't combine the honey with alcohol. Use should remain occasional and conservative.

How should I store this honey?

Like regular honey, store Himalayan cliff honey at room temperature in a cool and dry place- away from direct sunlight and heat. Don’t refrigerate as it can induce crystallization. In case of crystallization, simply warm the sealed jar in lukewarm water to restore the smoothness. Use only clean and dry utensils to prevent moisture contamination.

How is our honey ethically sourced?

Gurung communities in central Nepal, depend on honey hunting as their primary income source. We source directly from these families, ensuring fair compensation and sustainable harvesting that protects wild bee populations. Every jar you purchase supports traditional mountain communities directly.
