Traceability

At Himalayan Cliff Honey, we are rooted in nature, people, and tradition. Every jar comes directly from native cliffside hives in Nepal, carefully harvested by experienced Gurung, Magar, and Chhetri honey hunters using centuries-old techniques.

Our cliff honey is collected once or twice a year, handled in small batches, and stored in certified units to preserve its natural enzymes, bioactive compounds, and delicate flavor with minimal processing.

Each jar includes a QR code that allows you to trace your honey back to its harvest region, season, and the beekeeper. The code also provides batch details and third-party quality testing information, ensuring full transparency from the cliff to your jar.

Questions Asked By You

What is Cliff Honey?

Cliff honey(mad honey) is wild honey from the Himalayas, harvested from remote cliff faces of highlands. Our Jajarkot harvest is from the hills between Karaichuli and Kanjirowa mountains at 2,700 to 3,500 meters altitude. Local Magar and Dalit communities collect this honey using traditional techniques — a centuries-old practice that sustains families and preserves cultural heritage.

What makes our honey unique?

This harvest is sourced amidst white rhododendron fields and rich mountain flora and has a distinct sensory profile. The honey has amber-yellow color, thick, creamy texture and is known for its strong aroma and sweet, aromatic flavor- it's bolder and more fragrant than lighter varieties. The Jajarkot harvest is a perfect choice for people wanting robust, full-bodied Himalayan honey experience.

How is Mad honey different from store-bought honey?

Commercial honey is purified using pasteurization and heavy filtration, these processes can strip natural compounds. Cliff honey is completely raw- never heated, filtered, or processed. Wild Himalayan bees forage exclusively on high-altitude rhododendron and mountain flora, this makes the honey totally different, impossible to find in farm-raised varieties. The honey hence is an authentic wild honey in its purest form.

What is the safe dosage for our honey?

Start with a small amount (no more than one teaspoon), preferably best taken with food. Individual tolerance varies, so moderation is essential. This honey is intended for occasional use only and should not be consumed frequently or in excess.

Who should not use this honey?

Cliff honey must be completely avoided by pregnant or breastfeeding women. Its use is not appropriate for children under 18, those with heart conditions, low blood pressure, or taking cardiac medications. For anyone undergoing surgery in near future, stop the use before two weeks. The honey is only for healthy adults, in case you are uncertain, seek medical advice.

What is the best way to consume this honey?

The best way to consume this honey is mixing it with lukewarm water below 40°C. Never combine with alcohol. Both morning or evening consumption is permitted. This product is not intended for daily or casual consumption.

How do I store this honey properly?

Try to keep the honey at room temperature in a dark cupboard, away from sunlight and heat. Avoid refrigeration totally as it can cause sugars to crystallize at a faster rate. In cases of natural crystallization, which is just a sign of authentic raw honey, warm the sealed jar gently in lukewarm water. Use a dry spoon to take out the honey from the jar. If properly stored, cliff honey can remain fresh for years.

Is our honey sustainably sourced?

Yes. Magar and Dalit communities in western Nepal depend on honey hunting as their primary income source. We partner directly with these families, ensuring fair trade and sustainable collection practices. For these communities, honey is not only a tradition but a vital livelihood. Your purchase preserves heritage while supporting remote mountain families.
